How To Require/Exclude Words Often you will know a word that will appear for sure in a document you are searching for. If that is the case, require that the word appears in all the results by attaching a "+" to the beginning of the word (for example, to find all topics which mention the Trojan war, you might try the query +Trojan +war). You may also find that when you search on a vague topic, you get a very broad set of results. You can quickly exclude some results by adding a term that appears often in unwanted topics with a "-" before it (for example, to find all topics that mention the Trojan war but not the Trojan horse, you might use the query +Trojan +war -horse). If you list a word/words without any "+" or "-" prefix, you will get the list of all documents where any of the given words appear. |
